What the what??

A little bit about Ghee Shakar…

In Urdu, Ghee is clarified butter (a sort of shortening) used often in our rich Indo-Pak foods whereas Shakar means sugar. Pakistani and Indian sweets and desserts almost always use the two as main ingredients. Traditionally, when someone brought you good news or wished you well, people would often say “Tumhare munh mein ghee shakar” (Literally: May there be ghee shakar (sweetness) in your mouth) as a sort of happy reciprocation for the sweet words said, and also may that wish come true so that in return the well wisher could be treated to sweet desserts upon the occasion.

So I hope you can take these recipes and share them with your loved ones, because I believe cooking for someone with love and eating together creates little magic moments for everyone.
